the tiny terror that calls me mummy..

It's 11.12pm n I'm fighting my tiny terror who's fighting sleep. 😪

Came home from parents' place in the evening with juz two of us n helper. She had a meltdown in the car and after telling her off for a few seconds I decided to 换位思考。so I tried to figure out why she was so emotional and everything we said her reply was 'I don't want'.
Then I realised. While at my parents' she was watching baby shark halfway when we told her it was time to go home. She was unwilling but she followed quietly on her new skate scooter. Reached ground floor, she still wanted to play but we bundled her into the car. In the car she said she wanted to eat biscuits but we said no cos it was too close to dinner time.
So whatever we suggested after that was met with a 'no', 'I don't want' cos she was frustrated already.
With that a new understanding dawned on me. So I let her cry it out n calm down on her own. And after that when I asked her if she felt better she could smile n say yes to me.
Much better accomplishment than to tell her off or keep asking her 'whats wrong what u want'
But patience needed. One step closer to enlightenment.

genius girl?

My daughter at 22 months can follow a pretty precise instruction I gave her.
Told her to take her lotion that's on my bed and bring it back to keep, and she did it.
Probably normal but I prefer to see it as my daughter's pretty damn smart..

school for leah

This girl has been to 1 month of school, she only missed 2 days of school due to bad runny nose with green mucus. Well, she have had runny nose since before she started school, and it lasted for a whole month.. it was v good that she's only had to miss two days of it.
This school has a good system that allows one parent to acc for 1st 3 days (only half day till after lunch), which makes it a lot easier for acclimatising. And it was good that the first 3 days started on a Wed. I was able to prep her over the weekend as I know exactly what's gonna happen for that period of time.. for the 1st month she cried about 10 days out of 20 days of school. Not too bad I think..

late night thoughts

Suddenly crossed my mind that Leah is most likely an only child, as per my husband.
When we grow old n leave this world, she'll really be alone.. optimally she'll have us till she's about 40, and optimistically she'll have kids around 30 and we can help her out for the first 10 years a little and leave the world b4 we become her burden..
Nonetheless better ensure she has a good relationship with her cousins as they'll be her only  blood family left after me n TSO leaves the world.. at least if she has problems she has ppl to turn to other than husband.. never know what kind of partner she'll end up with..

flirt

My daughter's such a sociable creature. To be blunt, she's a flirt.
2 incidents
First Incident
Brought her along to Grab office to apply for grabfood merchant. Firstly, she kept waving to everyone there. Then, she took my car key, went up to a random grab rider (guy) and gave him the key, and took his phone away. (I know, not a good deal at all). But the guy was really very nice. He just quietly played along with her antics.
After that, when I was talking to the Grab person, (also a guy), she kept waving to him n trying to get his attention.. *roll eyes

Second Incident
Went back KK for a review and urine test. She was still traumatised from the recent hospital stay, when the nurses tried to take off her diapers to put the urine bag, she cried so hard and loud the other nurses all came in to see what happened. (Side story, she cried till she peed so they didn't need to paste the bag on after all). After that, when she's calmed down, she started walking up and down the corridor,  peering into every room (including the *pee room*) and waving to everyone..and then she saw a little malay boy about 7-8 years old, and grabbed his hand, refusing to let go.. the nice little boy just held out his hand for her to hold on to..

Tis the tale of
My cute little embarrassment. 😍

HFMD tiger

LO got hfmd. No idea from where. We went to Malaysia from 1st - 5th June, came back and she got a fever that same night. Brought her to doctor on the 6th night, saw a couple spots on her hands, but doc not convinced hfmd partly cos she's not schooling yet. The next morn the legs outbreak of rash. Immediately brought to doctor again, still not totally convinced saying got chance of chicken pox. Then the LO did not eat or drink much the whole day, even latching she'll stop and stare at boobies n cry.
Then on 7th night she woke up and cried for 2 hours, coupled with fever and entire day of not eating, we decided to bring her to KKH, thinking that doc will give stronger meds, maybe a jab and send us home.
End up they decided to ward her for the night for observation of dehydration. Positive attitude me still thought 'ok, overnight should be juz one night.' And that night became another night, and another night, and yet another night.
Throughout the first 2 days, LO only breastfed and refused anything and everything. Even ice cream.
Didn't want to put her on drip at first. But by Thursday evening, with her urine output terrible, I had to let her go on the drip. (Insertion of the needle is another story in itself)
Eventually on the 3rd day (sat) she finally managed to have a few mouthful of soup and a few sips of apple juice.
Now on our 4th day in, she has a much better appetite n managed to eat more. Right now waiting for doctor to come review and highly likely discharge her.

Throughout these few days, I was her only constant. She developed a fear of seeing doctors n nurses, but as she got better, her mood improved as well.
It was when I heard her laugh again to realise how much I missed hearing that the past few days. Although with her improved mood and energy, the attitude and stubbornness comes back as well. At 14months old she is testing the limits already.
Nonetheless, it is great to see her get better and I thank the higher beings for bringing this little cutie into my life.
